THE ENCHANTED CAVERN ,  2020

Introduction

Explain it from a psychological point of view. People often want to have everything they like. Then often the process and result of this good thing they have it are not good for other. I think about it from the other side's point of view.

From a philosophical point of view, people want this thing, and then people will imagine it as what they like. Then shape it according to they own idea, and gradually turn it into an object closer to what they imagine. But this objective object is not such a state as people think.

Interactive Process & Thecnical Implementation
The projector、Leap Motion and Arduino are concealed within the “cave.” When the audience approaches and extends their hand into the installation, the system uses gesture recognition technology to project a dynamic image of butterflies fluttering onto their palm, creating an enchanting and dreamlike interactive experience.

This design draws inspiration from the shared childhood memory of catching butterflies, evoking a sense of longing and appreciation for beautiful things. However, when the audience attempts to close their hand to catch the butterfly, the scene’s lights dim, symbolizing the fragility and transience of those cherished moments. Through this dynamic interaction, the work aims to prompt reflection on humanity’s desire to possess beauty, while also suggesting that beauty often exists in our imagination and cannot always be fully grasped.
